Connecting Extractive Industries

to Development Goals

 

This three days workshop has been developed by AFD Gorup to improve the capacities to analyze and understand the main aspects and issues related to extractive industries and their interaction with host societies.

 

The specific workshop’s objectives are:

 

i) Understand of main concepts, ideas and approaches related to development and socioeconomic progress.

 

ii) Understand direct and indirect impacts of extractive industries

 

iii) Understand how to use, analyse and monitor socioeconomic indicators, progress and the socioeconomic context of the area of influence of extractive industry projects.

 

iv) Understand the links and how to connect the impacts of extractive activities to development goals utilizing policies, strategies and actions.

 

v) Improve capacity to build a shared vision and a common agenda to contribute significantly to development goals of host societies.

 

 

This workshop is designed for government officials, company directors, CSR executives and practitioners, policy makers, community leaders, and researchers who wish to improve their knowledge of extractive industry processes  and  those who think that extractive industries can offer an opportunity to find long term and permanent pathways to improve the current levels of development and quality of life of host societies.
